Many travelers are captivated by the peach blossoms of Nyingchi during spring, yet this is only the beginning of its beauty. On this sacred land, Nyingchi reserves its most enchanting aspects for the two finest seasons of the year: the ‘Sentimental Autumn’ and the ‘Subtle Winter’. The last leaves of late autumn have silently fallen, marking the end of Nyingchi’s autumnal fairy tale. A gust of wind brings a biting chill, heralding the first gentle snowfall of early winter. The first rays of sunlight after the snowfall bring a profound silence. Not far from Nyingchi city, within a two-hour drive, lies the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, which has already entered the world of winter snow. Known as the deepest canyon in the world and revered as ‘the last secret of humanity’, it inspires awe. The canyon, like the most beautiful scar on Earth, hides a unique grandeur and charm beneath its heart-wrenching appearance. A scenic tour by shuttle takes you through the Dadu Card site, Love Square, and to the observation deck. Love Square features a cliff swing, hot air balloons, and an RV base, offering experiences for play and photography. The final stop is the Waterfront Platform. At the U-bend of the canyon, you can get up close to the Yarlung Zangbo River. With the cold wind and the rapid current flowing downwards, we standing in nature seem so small, and the things that once bothered us in life can be instantly let go. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon embraces the Namcha Barwa peak, which shyly turns south at the first bend, with the towering and deep canyon above it. The thick clouds are like the ‘veil’ of a newlywed bride, always reluctant to reveal her true face, thus earning the nickname ‘Shy Girl Peak’. Despite this, countless people still come here every year, hoping to catch a glimpse of her true appearance, but often leave with regret. If possible, it is recommended to spend a night in Suosong Village, the closest place to see Namcha Barwa. The clouds appear and dissipate, the distant snow-capped mountains are layered like a fairyland. On lucky days, one can witness sunrise sea of clouds, sunset starry skies, and of course, the golden sunshine on Namcha Barwa, along with the occasional appearance of the ‘cutie’ exclusive to the Tibetan region – small rainbows. The Yarlung Zangbo River flows tirelessly, the mountain peaks are grand and spectacular, and the true face of ‘Shy Girl Peak’ is rarely seen. After three seasons of accumulation, Nyingchi presents its most sacred side to winter. Contrary to expectations, winter in Nyingchi is not as biting cold as one might imagine. On the contrary, the Tibetan winter is often filled with ample sunshine, making the city, scenic areas, and the countryside a warm and cozy scene.
Now is the best time to travel to Tibet. You can effortlessly stay at the hotel of your choice without queuing, spend the least amount of money, and enjoy the most beautiful scenery. Have you been longing for this trip for years? Are you sure you don’t want to come?
