La Villa Rouge (Hengshan Road Branch)

The Baidai Building, also known as the recording site of ‘The March of the Volunteers’ (former site of the Baidai Company), was constructed in 1921. This residence, with its red-tiled roof and red brick walls, is referred to as ‘La Villa Rouge’ in Shanghai. The early owners of this building were two French businessmen. In the 1930s, it was acquired by the French record company, EMI. In 1934, Nie Er, a renowned Chinese composer, served as the head of the music department. The building is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 17:00; closed all day on Mondays. Please note that the actual business hours may vary depending on the day’s opening schedule.
