The main building of Shilin Official Residence is based on the guesthouse for foreign guests built by the Taiwan Provincial Government in 1949 and is renovated. It is a simple and practical two-story sloping roof building with a structure that combines wood structure and reinforced concrete. Restoration began in 2006 and was completed at the end of November 2009. Mr. Chiang Kai-shek and his wife spent 26 years here. Entering the main building, you can get a glimpse of Mr. Chiang’s family gatherings, receptions for foreign guests or daily life in the past. The official residence of the main building of Shilin Official Residence records the daily life of the first family and plays an important role at critical moments in history. Whether it is the main building where Mr. and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek live or the barracks where attendants and guards are stationed, they are all painted in dark green to blend with the surrounding woods and have both concealment and protection functions. The guesthouse of the main building of Shilin Official Residence blends with the surrounding greenery and has both ecological and concealed functions. Enter the small garden and feel the leisure life atmosphere. Stroll in the small garden, a good place for enjoying flowers and going on an outing. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 09:30 to 12:00; Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 13:30 to 17:00; Closed all day on Monday all year round; Closed all day on Spring Festival, Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Preferential policies: Children: Preschoolers are free. Disabled people: People with physical and mental disabilities can bring one companion for free with valid certificates. Taiwan residents: Students of all levels or in-school students with ISIC international student ID cards; citizens of Taipei City; volunteers with volunteer service honor cards; indigenous people over 55 years old in Taipei City are half price. Elderly: People over 65 years old are half price. Service facilities: Barrier-free passage: Suitable for stroller and wheelchair users.
