The museum’s exhibits are regularly rotated by theme to satisfy visitors’ curiosity about millennia-old Chinese culture. The National Palace Museum in Taipei houses a vast collection of artifacts, which can be broadly categorized into bronze ware, calligraphy and paintings, ceramics, books and manuscripts, crafts, and court artifacts. Among the famous bronze wares are Mao Gong Ding, San Shi Pan, and Zong Zhou Bell; the three great works of calligraphy and painting include Guo Xi’s ‘Early Spring’, Fan Kuan’s ‘Travelers Among Mountains and Streams’, and Su Shi’s ‘Cold Food Script’; renowned books and manuscripts include the Wen Yuan Pavilion’s ‘Complete Library of the Four Treasuries’ and the Chih Tsao Hall’s ‘Essence of the Complete Library of the Four Treasuries’; crafts include star exhibits such as Jadeite Cabbage and Meat-Shaped Stone; there are also tens of thousands of jade pieces, as well as lacquerware, glassware, gold and silver wares, and brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. The museum is located in Shilin District, Taipei, with an exterior resembling traditional Chinese palace architecture. Get up close to the Meat-Shaped Stone, a source of art inspired by life. The Dongpo Pork-Shaped Stone is one of China’s four great wonders and one of the three treasures of the National Palace Museum. Considering the needs of visitors who wish to quietly appreciate the cultural relics, the museum extends its opening hours on Friday and Saturday nights, while maintaining a no photography policy. Additionally, group photos are prohibited inside the exhibition halls, and the use of flash, supplementary lighting equipment, tripods, selfie sticks, and other auxiliary devices is not allowed. Please do not obstruct safety pathways or infringe upon others’ viewing rights while taking photos. 2. Apart from renting audio guides for a fee (adults 100 NTD, children 50 NTD, with a passport or a deposit of 3000 NTD), complimentary guided tours are also offered, with four sessions daily (9:30, 10:00, 14:30, 16:00). Each session is limited to 30 people, with 15 spots available for online reservation through the official website. It is recommended to make a reservation at least 15 days in advance. 3. The Zhang Daqian Memorial Hall, located near the Palace Museum, is open from Tuesday to Sunday and requires an appointment to be made on the museum’s official website one week in advance for visits. 4. If you arrive before opening, it is suggested to start your visit from the third floor to the first floor. If you come at noon, begin from the first floor, as the three treasures of the Palace Museum are on the third floor—try to avoid tour groups! 6. The first exhibition hall has an ATM on the underground level, offering a favorable exchange rate, where you can withdraw cash. There are also water dispensers for refilling and a post office for sending postcards; strollers and wheelchairs can be rented on the first floor. 6.
