The Alishan Museum is a wooden red-structured building located within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area

The Development Tools Exhibition Hall showcases tools and equipment used in the early development of Alishan, including models of log collection machines from the initial development period, planning models of the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, and crosscut saws produced by the United States, England, and Japan in the early days, among others
The Folklore Hall features a miniature ‘Wu Feng Temple’, next to which are built many exquisite models of houses, meeting places, warehouses, etc
, and displays many daily life utensils such as bows, guns, pipes, rice-pounding pestles, harmonicas, and even old-fashioned telephones from the past
The Flora and Fauna Specimen Hall displays taxidermy specimens and ecological backgrounds of high mountain animals such as Taiwan’s wild goats, wild boars, sambar deer, clouded leopards, and mountain cats, as well as preserved specimens of various birds, snakes, amphibians, butterflies, insects, and high mountain rodents, bats, and many wax specimens of Alishan’s high mountain plants
In addition, the museum also has a complete collection of specimens, models, and charts of Alishan’s geology, soil, and tree species, such as the five main tree species of Alishan: iron fir, red cypress, Taiwan cypress, Taiwan camphor, and Lantian fir, which can all be seen here
Soil types along the Alishan Railway line, rocks, and fossils such as sea urchins and bivalves unearthed in Alishan are also available
