Sun and Moon Stones

In front of the Tianya Haijiao Square, there lies a pair of naturally intersecting rectangular giant stones on the sea surface. The top ends are inscribed with the characters ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’, respectively, written by Mr. Fan Jingyi, the former editor-in-chief of the People’s Daily. Hence, they are named Sun and Moon Stones.

These stones stand together and never part, which is why they are also known as ‘Lovers’ Stones’, symbolizing the faithfulness of love.
