Siwang Pavilion is one of the landmarks in the center of Yangzhou City. It is located in the middle of the road, 350 meters north of Wenchang Pavilion. There are complete facilities for eating, drinking, playing and entertainment around it. Siwang Pavilion has three floors and eight sides. Different from Wenchang Pavilion which is painted with whitewash, its walls are made of blue bricks. This building is not lit up on most nights. Siwang Pavilion was originally built in the 38th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1559 AD). It was originally a part of Jiangdu County School. Later, it served as a sentry tower for the Taiping Army and witnessed the tragic scenes of battles between the Taiping Army and the Qing Army. There are door openings in all four directions on the first floor of Siwang Pavilion. But now all four door openings are sealed with fences and cannot be visited. There are many shopping malls and restaurants around the area from Siwang Pavilion to Wenchang Pavilion, and the transportation is in all directions. Siwangting Road where Siwang Pavilion is located is itself a commercial street and a food street. Walking 250 meters west is Huaihai Road Food Street. Walking 800 meters east is Dongguan Street Historical Block where Yangzhou specialty snacks and tourist souvenirs gather. Walking 500 meters north, you can go to Yechun Teahouse in Yechun Garden to have morning tea. Yechun Garden is only 400 meters away from Slender West Lake. Since Siwang Pavilion is not at the crossroads of the main street like Wenchang Pavilion and is not lit up most nights, its popularity is slightly inferior to that of Wenchang Pavilion. Open all year round and all day long.
