The Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Site is concentrated in the estuary of the Yongjiang River, within an area less than two square kilometers on the south and north banks. As a strategic location for coastal defense in eastern Zhejiang, compared with coastal defense relics in other areas, the Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Site has the characteristics of large scope, many relics, complete types, and good preservation. There are a total of 14 sites, including 8 sites in Zhenhai District on the north bank of the Yongjiang River and 6 sites in Beilun District on the south bank, forming a complete network of historical relics system of coastal defense cultural relics. It is also currently a relatively well-preserved coastal defense site in China.
