Luohangu Scenic Area is located at the foot of the mountains along the Xidaxian from Xilingxia Village to Dayu Village in Dalan Town, Yuyao City, named after the original eighteen Arhats in the valley. It is said that one of the Eight Immortals, Lu Dongbin, often played chess under the chessboard rock in the valley, and the eighteen Arhats would guard his package. One day, after finishing his game, Lu Dongbin left his package behind, and the Arhats continued to protect it, but he never returned. Over time, the package turned into Package Rock, and the Arhats turned into stone sculptures. According to folklore, finding all eighteen Arhat stone sculptures can lead to the treasure left by the Immortal Lu.
Next to Package Rock, there is a Cold Grass Rock, which is said to be the medicine gathering place of Han Xiangzi, another of the Eight Immortals. The Yuan Dynasty poet Tie Chong wrote a poem about it: ‘Before Cold Grass Rock, spring is scarce, countless peach blossoms reflect in the clear stream; I have arrived at the immortal’s den, not like the fisherman lost on this path.’
The falling water from the upstream of the Kaiju Tan Reservoir flows through Luohangu, converging into a stream, and following the ancient path of the eighteen Arhats upstream, one can enjoy a journey interspersed with ponds and waterfalls, the music of cascading springs, grotesque rocks, and vines crisscrossing, with fresh air and bird songs accompanying the way, small bridges over flowing water, and a leisurely, graceful atmosphere, all contributing to a refreshing and invigorating原始 scenery. At the top of the ancient path, there is a glass plank road and a camping base, making it an ideal place for leisurely mountain climbing.
