The Alchemy Cave is located at a height of about 482 meters on Anqi Peak of Peach Blossom Island. Legend has it that An Qisheng, in order to avoid the violent Qin Dynasty, lived in seclusion in this natural stone cave on Anqi Peak to practice Taoism and make alchemy, and became a saint worshipped by later generations. In 1327, Wu Lai, a litterateur of the Yuan Dynasty, visited An Qisheng when he toured Peach Blossom Mountain in autumn and inspected the ruins of the Alchemy Cave. There is a poem left: ‘There is still an alchemy cauldron left, and there are still woodcutters who know about it.’
