Bali Village, with the culture of the returned overseas Chinese from Southeast Asia in Xinglong as its backdrop, weaves together the life of the returned overseas Chinese after they came back to their homeland through the ‘charm’, ‘customs’, ‘scenery’, and ‘flavors’ of Southeast Asia. It is a themed scenic area centered around the culture of returned overseas Chinese.
Bali Village is composed of five functional areas. The Southeast Asian Culture Museum meticulously records the true situation of the returned overseas Chinese through images and text, showcasing the construction and development history of Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm over the past 60 years. The Returned Overseas Chinese Living Area features representative homes of returned overseas Chinese from three different decades (straw houses of Malaysian returned overseas Chinese from the 1950s, brick houses of Indonesian returned overseas Chinese from the 1960s, and stone houses of Vietnamese returned overseas Chinese from the 1970s). Through experiencing the handicraft workshops of different countries of origin, it recreates the authentic scenes of Malaysian returned overseas Chinese frying coffee, Indonesian returned overseas Chinese baking thin pancakes, and Vietnamese returned overseas Chinese making coconut sugar. The Southeast Asian Charm Street is a Southeast Asian-style stage built in the scenic area’s Huali Mountain, where elderly returned overseas Chinese entertain themselves with song and dance performances. Visitors can also interact, listen to cheerful music, watch charming dances, wear colorful floral shirts, taste local snacks, and experience exotic cultures. The Root Art Hall uses the existing root art hall to tell the stories of the affection between the returned overseas Chinese from Southeast Asia and Xinglong, combining the layout of root art with the development and construction of Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm, awakening people’s awareness of loving greenery and protecting the environment. The Product Experience Area, with Southeast Asian culture as its foundation and Southeast Asian flavors as its cornerstone, sells unique Southern ‘Old Returned Overseas Chinese’ series of specialty products, ‘Tasting the flavors of the South, Appreciating the Charm of Southeast Asia’.
