Changxing Taihu Museum

The Changxing County Museum was originally established in 1976, with the construction of the new museum beginning in 2016 and opening to the public in 2019. The new museum is located at Taihukou on Central Avenue, covering an area of 31,000 square meters. The museum currently houses over 10,000 cultural relics. Among the current collections, prehistoric stone tools, pottery from the Majiabang culture, bronze ware from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, weapons from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, ironware from the Han dynasty, as well as copper mirrors and porcelain from the Song dynasty, are all renowned treasures.
The entire museum consists of the outdoor ancient Pengcheng site, Taihu ancient Lou port, and four indoor exhibition halls: the Changxing History Hall, Taihu Humanities Hall, Taihu Nature Hall, and the Temporary Exhibition Hall. Together, they narrate the story of Taihu from ancient times to the modern era, encompassing nature, history, folklore, and culture, making it a model of cultural and tourism integration that combines Taihu-themed exhibitions with county culture.
