Its style adopts the top of the Temple of Heaven and the body of a pyramid. The main part is a white marble wall. The blue tile and golden glazed treasure roof is octagonal, representing the eight virtues of ‘loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, love, faith, righteousness, harmony, and peace’ gathered on the treasure roof, connecting with the sky to imply the thought of ‘harmony between man and nature’. The hourly changing of the guard ceremony at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall has become a highlight for tourists. At every hour on the dot, the guard honor guard comes out from the ground floor hall, arrives in front of the elevator on the ground floor, and goes up to the bronze statue hall on the fourth floor. The changing of the guard ceremony is very solemn and grand. The movements are steady and solemn. The whole place is quiet and solemn. Only the sound of the guards’ footsteps and their short commands can be heard. The whole ceremony lasts for 10 minutes. After the ceremony, tourists can go forward and take pictures outside the guardrail. The square of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is spacious and wide.
