Daxue Pond is located within the Cihu Forest Nature Education Area in Nantou County
It is an artificial landscape pond named after National Taiwan University because it belongs to the experimental forest of the university
The pond covers an area of about half a hectare with a depth of approximately 10 meters
In the past, it was used to soak timber to remove impurities and pests, as well as to prevent wood from cracking
Now, it serves as a purely ornamental pond
As one of the representative landscapes of Cihu, Daxue Pond is beloved by tourists for its clear waters resembling a bright mirror, surrounded by towering ancient trees and lush greenery, as well as its pleasant and cool climate
Particularly, a unique arched bamboo bridge on the pond, entirely constructed from bamboo, attracts curious tourists who often gather in lines to cross it
In addition to Daxue Pond, the forest area also features landscapes such as the sacred tree, sea of trees, and ginkgo forests
It is an ideal destination for family outings on weekends and holidays, where one can not only immerse in nature and enjoy the benefits of phytoncide but also learn about various types of trees and plants in Taiwan
The area is open all year round from 7:00 to 17:00
