The ancient civilization of the Guangfulin Cultural Relics Site has been preliminarily confirmed through scientific archaeology. As early as four to five thousand years ago in the late Neolithic Age, rice cultivation was already widespread in the area, indicating an advanced mode of agricultural production. Additionally, the history of textile here is also very ancient, with Neolithic pottery spindle whorls unearthed at the site. Entering the site, visitors are captivated by the Guangfulin Cultural Exhibition Hall. The entire exhibition space is set underwater, with pyramid-like roofs floating in Fuling Lake, blending with the surroundings and creating a beautiful picture. The exhibition hall, themed around a ‘journey through time and space’, combines modern audio-visual technology to design scenes such as Guangfulin archaeological memories, the evolution of Shanghai’s land formation, the arrival of ancient inhabitants, the formation of urban characteristics, the prosperity of Songjiang County, the rise of Shanghai city, and moving towards the future. Visitors can experience and read the civilizational history of Shanghai in a time tunnel.
