The museum focuses on the local natural and cultural history, featuring a rich variety of exhibits that showcase the development of the region. The interior decoration, designed in harmony with the themes of each exhibit area, is meticulously realistic, offering visitors a sense of time travel and immersion in history. The museum is structured with an underground floor, two above-ground floors, and an attic. The permanent exhibition halls are mainly located on the second floor and the underground floor, while the first floor houses special exhibition halls and a souvenir shop. The underground floor primarily displays the local natural environment, the development from prehistoric times to the Qing Dynasty, and a wealth of folk exhibits. The second floor illustrates the transformation from a small fishing village to a metropolis, with multiple small screening rooms that continuously play videos related to each exhibition area. The collection within the museum is categorized into four main areas: archaeology, local history, folklore history, and natural history. The archaeological collection includes the renowned Father Mai Zhaohan collection and Father Fen Dailai collection. The local history collection mainly consists of historical photographs, with the earliest dating back to the 1860s. The folklore history collection features traditional Chinese fishing boat models, fishing equipment, traditional agricultural tools, and daily utensils. The natural history collection primarily consists of rocks and minerals from around the world, as well as common butterflies and mollusk shells.
