Luhuitou Scenic Area - A Romantic Destination in Sanya

Luhuitou Scenic Area is located in Luhuitou Peninsula at the southwestern end of Sanya City. There are a total of five peaks of different sizes, with an altitude of 181 meters. The park is surrounded by the sea on three sides and adjacent to Sanya urban area on one side. It is an excellent place to climb high and overlook the sea, watch the sunrise and sunset, and have a panoramic view of Sanya City. In 1994, Luhuitou Scenic Area was rated as a scenic spot. In 2017, Luhuitou Scenic Area was awarded the title of a national 4A tourist attraction.

The fairy deer turns back, and there is love in the world – The mountain of love in the South China Sea. There is a young Li ethnic hunter with a red scarf on his head and a bow and arrow in his hand. He chases a sambar deer from Wuzhishan in the hinterland of Hainan Island. After passing through ninety-nine mountains and ninety-nine rivers, he arrives at the coast of the South China Sea. In front of him, below the cliff on the mountain top is the vast sea. The sambar deer has nowhere to go. Just as the young hunter is about to draw his bow and nock an arrow, suddenly there is a flash of fire and smoke rises. The sambar deer turns back and becomes a beautiful Li ethnic girl. The two then fall in love and become loving husband and wife. Therefore, this mountain is called ‘Luhuitou’ and has become a mountain of love where young men and women make vows.

The main scenic spot ‘Luhuitou’. ‘Don’t say that the five sheep in Guangzhou are majestic and beautiful. The charm is not as good as Luhuitou’. The Luhuitou sculpture is the work of the famous Chinese sculptor Lin Yuhao. The sculpture is 15 meters high, 10 meters long, and 9 meters wide. It is carved from more than 170 pieces of marble and took five years to complete. Sanya City is also named ‘Deer City’ because of it. Contemporary works also include the sculptures at Yuhuatai in Nanjing, the group sculptures of Jianzhen’s eastward voyage at Xiaodongtian in Sanya, and the five sheep sculptures in Guangzhou.

There are light shows such as ‘Air rose’, ‘City light’, ‘Moving head light’, ‘Air cannon’, ‘Strobe light’, etc., and the beautiful and moving love legend of the park is made into a three-dimensional laser animation and shown at 8 pm on weekends.

City Charm – Beiting Scenic Overlook, the vantage point to overlook the panoramic view of Sanya, is an excellent spot for watching the sea, sunrise, and sunset. At the farthest reach of the view, the vast sea and sky merge, with the silhouettes of sails dotting the horizon, offering a panoramic view of the coastal scenery and charm. Mountains, sea, city, and rivers are all within sight.

At night, the mountain is adorned with splendid lights, and below, thousands of lights from homes create a beautiful night view of Sanya City, which is truly refreshing and delightful.

Blessings Overflow – Ziqi Donglai Park, a sunrise viewing spot, stands here with a panoramic view of the emerging red sun, the vast ocean, and the rising clouds and rosy clouds, with a sense of auspiciousness and grace. The Da and Xiao Donghai gather here in a horn-like formation, a convergence of spiritual energy and blessings, a place where fortune gathers like the peak of the East Sea, with a prayer platform built here. The famous Chinese calligrapher and painter, Mr. Wangshan, inscribed words for this place.

Eternal Fairy Traces – End of the Earth Wanderings, inscribed by Mr. Lai Shaoqi, who is one of the few survivors of the Shangrao concentration camp. Mr. Lai, while traveling in Sanya, reflected on life, having gone through hardships in this life and the next, and felt reborn after emerging from the concentration camp and climbing Luhuitou. Having seen the ends of the earth, he felt as if he had entered a heavenly fairyland, calling himself an immortal, enjoying the fairyland alone, and left behind the ‘End of the Earth Wanderings’ to express his traces of immortal travels.
