Putuo Mountain Buddhist Museum

Putuo Mountain Buddhist Museum is the first religious museum established by the religious community in China to date, with its predecessor being the cultural relics exhibition room located in Puji Temple. It is a thematic museum primarily dedicated to the collection, protection, display, and research of Buddhist cultural relics from Putuo Mountain.
The Buddhist Museum is situated at the former site of Tanhua Temple, No. 36-6 Xianghua Street, Putuo Mountain, adjacent to the national cultural heritage unit Yuan Dynasty Duo Bao Pagoda, the provincial cultural heritage unit Puji Zen Temple, and the municipal cultural heritage unit Bai Zi Tang. The exterior is designed in the style of the Song Dynasty, with a construction area of 3,643 square meters, a ground area of 3,400 square meters, and a total height of 19.68 meters. It is divided into two floors and seven exhibition halls, housing over 1,700 Buddhist artifacts, mainly including Buddhist sacred objects, imperial edicts, imperially bestowed kasaya, calligraphy and paintings, porcelain, bronze Buddha statues, and jade miscellaneous items.
