As an ancient town, the main attraction of Gaoqiao is the old street. The old street is located opposite the Seventh People’s Hospital and is close to Gaoqiao Port, including Gaoqiao West Street and Gaoqiao East Street. On October 31, 2021 (Shanghai weather: sunny to cloudy, 15 to 22 degrees), to visit Gaoqiao Old Street, you can enter from the side of Datong Road. There are several historical buildings on the old street that can be visited for free. On January 9, 2022 (Shanghai weather: cloudy with light rain, 6.4 to 7.8 degrees), there is a large parking lot near Datong Road, making self-driving very convenient. First visit West Street. The three-arch bridge spanning Gaoqiao Port. The chimney in the distance is an eyesore. Across Jijing North Road is Gaoqiao East Street. East Street is shorter than West Street and can be seen through at a glance. A small shop selling Gaoqiao shortcakes at the corner of Gaoqiao West Street and Jijing North Road tastes good. The production technique of Gaoqiao shortcakes has been included in Shanghai’s intangible cultural heritage. The following are pictures of Gaoqiao West Street. At the intersection of Datong Road and Gaoqiao Old Street, there is a KFC with a very distinctive building. Of course, we also had a meal there. Looking at my shooting on October 31 last year, this KFC store was under renovation at that time. On January 16, 2022 (Shanghai weather: cloudy to overcast, 5.6 to 10.7 degrees), driven by my wife, we went to Gaoqiao along Dongtang Road. Most vehicles from Lujiazui, Pudong to Gaoqiao take Pubei North Road and Zhangyang North Road. There is very little traffic on Dongtang Road. There are almost no residential areas on both sides of this road, appearing rather deserted and run-down. However, as the oldest bus line in Pudong, Route 81 is still running on Dongtang Road. Visit Gaoqiao Old Street again. Gaoqiao Port. The small shop selling Gaoqiao shortcakes at the corner of Gaoqiao West Street and Jijing North Road. We have bought here many times. Red bean shortcakes. Gaoqiao Food Factory at the intersection of Gaoqiao West Street and Shude Street. The storefront of Gaoqiao Food Factory. The production technique of Gaoqiao shortcakes is listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Shanghai and is named for its crisp and loose texture. There are many shortcake shops on the old street. The most authentic and popular one is the storefront of Gaoqiao Food Factory. Red bean shortcakes are 2 yuan each. The storefront of ‘Old Changsha Stinky Tofu’ on Shude Street. Shijia Street at the other end of Shude Street. Shude Street, less than 100 meters long, connects Gaoqiao West Street and Shijia Street. The old street parking lot on Datong Road. We parked for 1 hour and 7 minutes and paid 10 yuan.
