The Shanghai Greenhouse Garden is situated at the heart of the Shanghai World Expo Cultural Park, adjacent to the central lake and backed by the Twin Hills, covering an area of approximately 22,000 square meters with a total construction area of about 40,000 square meters above and below ground. It is a multifunctional ecological complex that integrates ornamental touring, leisure, and entertainment. The exterior design, achieved through the renovation and utilization of the old factory buildings of the former Shanghai Steel No. 3 Factory, combines historical memory with modern elements to form a naturally elegant cloud-like curve. The Shanghai Greenhouse Garden consists of four pavilions, including 1 Visitor Service Center and 3 themed pavilions (namely, Pavilion 1 – Seashore Sandbar, Pavilion 2 – Cloud Forest, and Pavilion 3 – Misty Canyon). The three major themed pavilions are classified based on the habitats of plants, combined with the spatial structure of the architecture, selecting typical ecological segments from the world’s ecosystems to create three types of environments: tropical arid, tropical wet shade-tolerant, and tropical wet sun-loving. They showcase tropical arid plants, tropical rainforest plants, and tropical flowering plants respectively. The exhibition strives to extend from plants to a combination of culture and museums, creating an immersive exhibition greenhouse that is both visually appealing and enjoyable. In the future, multimedia images, artistic lighting, and mobile interaction will be introduced to create a unique science fiction and wonderful night tour experience. Please stay tuned. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00 all year round; closed all day on Mondays; open from 09:00-17:00 on Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, and Lantern Festival. Concessions are offered to children: those between 1.0 meters (inclusive) and 1.4 meters (exclusive) receive a discount; children under 1.0 meters (exclusive) enter for free. Elderly: those aged 60 years and above (inclusive) receive a discount. Disabled: discounts apply to those with valid disability certificates. Special groups such as active-duty military personnel: active-duty military personnel, disabled military personnel, martyr’s dependents, dependents of military personnel who died in the line of duty, dependents of military personnel who died from illness, families of active-duty military personnel, active/retired/disabled firefighters (including government-employed firefighters), and students of fire rescue academies receive discounts with valid identification.
