The Shanghai Tower Observation Deck is a functional experience area of the Shanghai Tower. From the 360-degree panoramic observation deck at the top of Shanghai, you can closely observe the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and the World Financial Center beneath your feet. In the distance, the World Expo Park, the City God Temple, the 80,000-seat stadium, Hongqiao Airport, and the Suzhou River and Huangpu River meandering towards the East China Sea can be seen. The growing skyline: The exhibit is located in the lobby of the Shanghai Tower Exhibition Hall on the first underground floor. A 100-second long live-action restoration animation film condenses and interprets the development history of the Bund and Pudong Lujiazui skyline in Shanghai for more than 170 years since the opening of Shanghai in 1840. It uses a dynamic form of image and sound synthesis to directly display the ever-changing changes of Shanghai city, with buildings rising from the ground and heights being continuously refreshed until the Shanghai Tower became the new height and landmark of Shanghai. Shanghai’s Shanghai Tower: Divided into three themes – the charm of Shanghai, the height of Shanghai, and Shanghai’s Shanghai Tower, it uses a combination of dynamic and static, virtual and real display methods, interspersed with dynamic images in static photos, showing people different periods and styles of Shanghai-style architecture from different perspectives. As time goes by, it gradually displays the representative buildings of Shanghai, this international metropolis, in the process of development. These buildings are not only rich in architectural aesthetics but also contain profound historical and cultural heritage. They are the urban connotation full of Shanghai charm, inheritance, and transcendence. Skyscraper Dream: Using the current domestic motion self-luminous transparent screen technology and transparent crystal model combination mode, it fully displays the mystery of skyscrapers. It shows the evolution of the world’s tallest building, which has been continuously refreshed in height since 1885, and also shows the ‘skyscraper dream’ that humans are constantly pursuing. It displays the world’s high-rise building ranking provided by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) as of 2020, which is a window to overlook the world’s high-rise buildings. Gene Bank: The Gene Bank reveals the entire process of urban planning, birth, and construction of the Shanghai Tower. It simulates more than ten world’s pioneering projects such as sky gardens and dampers, revealing many unknown genetic structures of the building. Vertical City: The Vertical City exhibition area uses the world’s leading 3D printing technology, with the building’s 1:350 nylon material overall printing model, and the display method of the main screen plus sub-screen, sound, light, and electricity integrated new media technology, showing the Shanghai Tower’s rainwater collector, double-glazed curtain wall, BIM construction technology, Shanghai Girl, Fish Fun Map and other green, intelligent, and humanistic rich connotations, expressing the concept of the vertical city.
The Shanghai Tower Observation Deck boasts three of the world’s fastest high-speed elevators, reaching speeds of 18 meters per second, allowing visitors to reach the 118th floor in just 55 seconds. During the ascent, screens display the elevator’s real-time speed, height, and direction, leaving a lasting impression on the riders with its speed, comfort, and stability. Sky Post Office: Located on the 118th floor, every postcard captures the beauty of the Shanghai skyline. Select one for yourself or a loved one to reflect the current mood and atmosphere, making it a cherished and timeless gift from the Shanghai Tower. Wishing Tree: The Wishing Tree on the 118th floor has undergone a complete upgrade. Write a wish card or fortune and tie it to the tree with a red string, symbolizing hopes and memories for the future. Breaking Through the Sky: This interactive project uses advanced AV devices to provide an ultra-realistic experience combining multimedia with the height of the building. Standing on the 118th floor amidst a projection of the Lujiazui skyline and advanced motion-sensitive hotspot controls, you’ll feel as if you’re breaking through the sky. From the 360-degree panoramic observation deck, you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and the Shanghai World Financial Center at your feet, and in the distance, the Expo Park, City God Temple, the 80,000-seat stadium, Hongqiao Airport, and the convergence of Suzhou River and Huangpu River into the East China Sea.
