Having experienced various stages of life and musical inspirations, YELLOW Huang Xuan’s first solo tour finally touches down on Earth, redefining the essence of ‘LIVE’. Incorporating vibrant vitality into the live scene, Yellow Xuan refuses to succumb to boredom, instead opting for a lively and dynamic performance. Almost Alive, yet more than just a live concert… After honing his craft through music awards, international festivals like Clockenflap, and top-tier music variety shows, Huang Xuan debuted his ‘Dead or Alive’ concert in 2022 and last year completed his first Blue Note Mainland China special performance, ‘Stay Alive’. With five years of creative inspiration, he explores diverse musical styles and continues the theme of exploring the vitality of music. The ripe moment for YELLOW Huang Xuan’s ‘Almost Alive’ solo tour is now! Meticulously designed and arranged setlists, the premiere performance of his latest singles, and collaborations with top musicians to present a fresh and shocking music ‘LIVE’ show. This year can truly be considered the ‘LIVE’ year of the YELLOW Huang Xuan universe. With the return of ‘Singer 2024’ under the spotlight of a fully live broadcast, Huang Xuan, as a chart-topping singer, has burst into the public view like a ‘pomegranate’ star. Appearing prickly on the outside and seemingly cold, he exudes a sense of the bizarre, humorously opens his heart, and shares his rich musical fruit. From retro Gypsy Swing, Boogie Woogie, Gospel, to avant-garde Fusion Funk, Neo Soul, experimental electronic music, and immersive lyrical pop, he does not pander to the audience’s taste on the competitive stage. Composing and performing with ease, he carries the entire stage and becomes the longest-charting singer online… Allowing many to be drawn in by the ‘abstract’ and then moving on to repeat listening and eagerly awaiting live performances, gradually entering Huang Xuan’s open and inclusive musical universe. In an era of information overload, any personality and style may seem commonplace, yet Huang Xuan’s live performances can surpass cognition, always being more ‘crazy’ and ‘explosive’. Besides continuously providing new stimulation to listeners with his unique aesthetic, daring to challenge the comfort zone of the ears, Huang Xuan’s focus, whether in life, creation, or performance, lies in ‘experience’. ‘Almost Alive’ is a subtle state close to being vivid or full of life, fully concentrating on the moment of performance, merging with the live scene. Rather than mechanically replicating CDs, ‘LIVE’ is a spontaneous chemical reaction with members, enjoying each other’s ‘breath’ and the synchrony under the pauses, capturing every ‘decisive moment’.
Throughout the tour, top musicians who have been together since the YELLOW band days, including Tanya Chua’s bassist, Cao Wei, 9m88/MC Hotdog’s guitarist, Lin Tingyu, jazz keyboardist Wu Zhijie, and drummer Chen Yancheng who has collaborated with An Pu/9m88, will be joined by a surprise brass section to bring exclusive tour adaptations and upcoming new singles. Huang Xuan once said in an interview: ‘We treat live performances as another thing; they have their limitations, but no one says that performances have to be the same as studio versions.’ ‘LIVE’ is changeable and full of life, not staying in one state forever. In Huang Xuan’s concept, taking risks and trying new things is something everyone needs to do. Almost A ‘live’, but more than just a live concert… Doors open at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16th, with the performance time and duration subject to the live event.
