Duration: 1 Day Time: October Cost per person: 800 RMB Who: Family Activities: Self-driving, Free travel, Weekend getaway Author visited these places: Shanghai Zhang Garden Published on 2020-11-11 14:49 October in Shanghai is the most comfortable season of the year, with a touch of autumn in the air, warm sunshine, and fresh air. It is the perfect time for an outdoor activity. The weekend is a joyful time for children and parents. Since having a baby, I have visited many amusement parks in Shanghai, big and small, but there is one that has always been in my collection, waiting for a crisp autumn day to visit. So, we took advantage of their Halloween event and chose a sunny weekend to visit this large outdoor family amusement park, Jigao Rabbit Nest. Jigao Rabbit Nest is a new large-scale outdoor family amusement park opened in Shanghai this year. There are many amusement parks in Shanghai, but it is rare to find one that focuses on outdoor family activities and is of such a large scale. For those who love the outdoors, it is highly recommended to bring a tent, wear comfortable clothing, prepare spare clothes for the baby, and prepare some delicious food for a family outing, enough to play for a whole day. Jigao Rabbit Nest is located in the Lavender Park of Shanghai International Tourism Resort, close to Shanghai Disney and奕欧来. You can take the subway line 11 to Disney Station, exit 3, and walk about 400 meters to get there. We chose to drive to the park, and the navigation to ‘Rabbit Nest Parking Lot’ will lead you there. The parking lot is inside the Guangming Ecological Park. We arrived around 10 o’clock, and there were not many parking spaces left. The park opened at 9 am, and many families went there early with picnic baskets. The parking fee is 10 RMB per hour. Growth World, the castle with macaron colors, is about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the entrance of the scenic spot. If you like sunshine, picnics, or live nearby, it is highly recommended to buy their annual card, which pays for itself after two visits. For those entering the park for the first time, you can get a park map at the visitor center to understand the facilities in the entire park. But in fact, in Rabbit Nest, you don’t need a strategy or follow a specific route, just enjoy the happy time here. Prepare the health code in advance and enter the park. Upon entering the park, the scenery brightens up. The entire park has created various dreams for children, with bright colors and fresh and lovely cartoon animal shapes, as if you have come to a miniature world. Climb the colorful castle, ride on the neck of a giraffe, and jump from one cute rabbit to another, it is dreamy and interesting.
Rabbit Nest Park is primarily divided into three main areas: Kingdom of Bunny Treasures, World of Growth, and Creative Bay. The main entrance faces the World of Growth, which resembles a small castle with a pleasant name, Sky Castle. Climbing to the highest point allows visitors to feel closer to the sky. Within this world of growth, there are numerous entertainment projects that are among the best in Shanghai and even in China, such as an ultra-long zipline and a comprehensive tower combination, making it a world for children. Upon entering the park, the atmosphere is filled with the spirit of Halloween, and the Halloween pumpkin decorations at the entrance are the first stop for children and parents to check in. The World of Growth includes four themed play areas: Aviator, Cloud Street, Dream Catcher, and Smart Corner. Due to the higher physical requirements here, it is more suitable for slightly older children. Climbing up the castle and sliding down from the ultra-long slide, splashing water, and jumping on the huge trampoline, the sounds of screams and laughter are endless. Each of the four themes within the World of Growth has its own characteristics. Sky Castle is the most attractive, with a large castle where children can conquer it through various climbing methods, and different routes lead to the central tower. Here, children can exercise their physical abilities and coordination, and more importantly, their courage. As a reward for the little warriors, they can slide down from the high castle slide and feel its speed and excitement. Of course, there are height restrictions for this, and only children over 110 cm can play. After sliding down the slide, there is a large area of sand where children play and parents accompany them. The joy of children is always so simple; a patch of sand can be played with for an entire morning. Next to the castle, a group of children are jumping up and down, which is the Dream Catcher area. The trampoline here has a large area and can accommodate many children to jump and play freely together. If the former areas have age restrictions, then the Smart Corner in the World of Growth attracts children of all ages. Here, it’s like a children’s water world, where they use their intelligence and hands-on abilities to control this miniature water project. Of course, many children simply come to play with water, not afraid of getting their clothes wet, so parents must remember to bring an extra 1-2 sets of clothes. Next to the World of Growth is a large lavender flower sea. It is said that there are nearly 20,000 lavender flowers in the entire Rabbit Nest Park, but unfortunately, the lavender blooming season has passed. Fortunately, Rabbit Nest Park always has different surprises. Even without lavender, there are vast fields of verbena and rose gardens, adding a splendid touch to this autumn.
Rabbit Kingdom, the happy world of internet-famous rabbits. Coming out of the Growth World, opposite is the Rabbit Kingdom. At the entrance, staff in Halloween costumes are distributing candies to the entering children. Just by hearing the name of Rabbit Kingdom, one feels it is cute and lovely. This is a play area suitable for younger children. It also has slides, climbing facilities, and nothing is left out. In addition to these, swings, sand digging, climbing, racing cars, cable slides, go-karts, and slides are all concentrated in this area. As the top of the three major areas of JEGOPLAY WONDERLAND, this is a happy kingdom for cute babies and their parents. There are seven themed play areas in Rabbit Kingdom, including Forgotten Corner, Rabbit Castle, and Happy Street. At the entrance, there is still a photo spot full of Halloween elements. Kaikai can’t wait to rush into the Rabbit Kingdom to have fun. The most conspicuous thing in Rabbit Kingdom is those internet-famous rabbits in the Rabbit Castle area. The macaron-colored rabbit castle shape is full of fairy-tale charm. Underneath is fine and soft sand. Children shuttle inside the rabbits and can also slide down from the big carrot. It’s so lovely. In addition to these internet-famous rabbits, there are different small animals in each theme. Giraffes and caterpillars all attract children into this colorful fairy-tale world. Climb up from the rope and then slide down. One can play for half a day. In JEGOPLAY WONDERLAND, slides and sand are probably the most abundant. Almost every play area will have such facilities. Therefore, even though there are many people in the entire park, they are diverted to various play areas and it doesn’t feel very crowded. In addition to these climbing areas, the arena is also a good place for interaction with parents. There are bicycles and bumper cars here, all for free. Bicycles are divided into single and double ones. There are two different queuing channels. Don’t line up in the wrong one. We chose the double channel and waited for about 10 minutes. There are more people playing bumper cars. We queued for almost 30 minutes. It is recommended that those who enter the park in the morning can go to play bumper cars first. There will be much fewer people in line. Next to the bumper cars is the popular internet-famous bubble pool. But this is charged at 30 yuan per time. Raincoats will be provided when entering. But even so, clothes will inevitably get wet. So, when coming to play at JEGOPLAY WONDERLAND, remember to bring several sets of changeable clothes for children. It’s really necessary! There are also excavators, go-karts, etc. in the park. You can choose these charged items according to your own interests. Which area in the park has the most concentrated crowd? It must be the Magic Sound Valley, the large lawn next to the internet-famous rabbits. Families who bring tents start setting up their own little houses on the lawn as soon as they enter the park.
Distinct from ordinary parks, this vast lawn is more than just a picnic spot, featuring a variety of swings, internet-famous needle sculptures, and other toys. Parents can rest while basking in the gentle sunlight and simultaneously enjoy their children’s playtime. Around 11 am, an announcement is made that the tent area is reaching capacity, suggesting to set up tents in the Creation Bay, which boasts an even larger lawn adjacent to a flower sea, often overlooked because it is not the blooming season. For lunch, you can opt to bring your own food, as there is no food ban here. Alternatively, those who come empty-handed, like myself, can dine at the Lawson and Dicos outside the park. Despite the crowds, the prices are reasonable, and the wristbands allow for multiple entries and exits from the park, a very considerate feature. For those who prefer not to move around, the Mengtu Home dining area inside the park is an option, with a small shop for purchasing snacks for the little ones. In summary, children can explore the secrets of dinosaur fossils here; experience the magical music fountain, and immerse themselves in a fairy-tale world, spending joyful time with their parents. When tired, they can find suitable food experiences on the lawn or at Mengtu Home. During weekends or holidays, the park often hosts various activities, and this Halloween is no exception. Unlike Halloween in other amusement parks, there is no terrifying atmosphere here; instead, it is warm and cozy. It feels more like entering a pumpkin festival in an amusement park, filled with adorable little pumpkins and a dreamy pumpkin carriage, ensuring that children will not be frightened. In the afternoon, the lawn is the stage for parent-child interactive activities such as ghost tug-of-war, pumpkin cart races, and pumpkin man races, one after another. Many of the activities at Rabbit Nest require the joint efforts of parents and children, which I appreciate. It not only allows for more time spent together but also enables us to participate actively. My baby’s most satisfying experience was the lion face painting. In the Growth World, there are face painters who can provide free face painting for children. After being painted, the baby, dressed as a little tiger, wanders around Rabbit Nest, driving a small car, making new friends, and exploring a new world. Sometimes, they happily play in the sand pile, trying to build a fairy-tale castle in their hearts. This adorable makeup is so precious that they are reluctant to wipe it off even when they get home. In the afternoon, a grand garden party is unfolding on the lawn, with games like doll catching and goldfish scooping, with open-air stalls displayed on the lawn, all of which are favorites among children. As the amber twilight stretches its graceful figure, the stage performance also begins, from children’s collective interactions to Halloween costume shows. The children have a great time, and the parents enjoy watching.
As dusk slowly falls, the entire Rabbit Nest Park remains immersed in a fairy-tale world. The secrets of dinosaur fossils still hide in that corner, waiting for children to uncover. The adorable internet-famous rabbits return to the tranquility that only the night can offer. The regular closing time of Rabbit Nest Park is 5 PM, but due to the Halloween event, the closing time has been extended to 8 PM. This fulfilling day is well worth the ticket price. I finally understand why so many people revisit Jigao Rabbit Nest Park multiple times. Just like its name suggests, it’s not just an amusement park but more like a cozy nest (home). Bring a tent and build a small home here. When you want to play, let the children freely express their nature, accompany them in exploring, stimulate their creativity and imagination, and exercise their courage and bravery. When tired, return to your own little nest and feel the happiness of the whole family together.
