Shangqing Ancient Town has a history of over a thousand years. It is part of the Longhu Mountain Scenic Area, located 25 kilometers away from Yingtan city. The town is built along the water with surrounding mountains, offering a beautiful natural environment.
There are numerous historical sites in Shangqing Ancient Town. The approximately 2-kilometer-long Shangqing Ancient Street features attractions such as Changqing Square, Liuhou Family Temple, Tian Shi Mansion, Liuhou Mansion, Tianyuan De Pharmacy, and the Catholic Church. The riverside is lined with stilt houses and boat docks, which further showcase the style of a Jiangnan water town.
On the eastern side of the town, there are Shangqing Palace and Dongyue Palace. Across the Luxi River, there is the hometown of the Ming Dynasty’s Prime Minister Xia Yan—Guizhou Village, and the place where the Red Eleventh Army and the Central Red Army met. About 4 kilometers away from the ancient town, there is the Tianmen Mountain Ecological Tourist Area, which boasts pristine forests, waterfall clusters, and some ancient residential buildings. The entire area is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
