After a seven-year hiatus, the long-awaited classic band NELL is set to return to Taiwan for a performance
The much-anticipated [NELL TAIWAN CONCERT 2024 ‘Our Eutopia’] will take place on November 9th at Legacy Taipei
Comprising of the creative mastermind Kim Jong-wan, bassist Lee Jeong-hoon, and guitarist Lee Jae-kyung, the modern rock band from South Korea, NELL, welcomed guest drummer Yang Hee-seung in 2023
As one of the pioneers of the South Korean independent music scene, they celebrate their 25th anniversary this year with well-known tracks such as ‘Four Times Around the Sun’ and ‘Stay’
Their signature song ‘Time Walking on Memories’ is instantly recognizable by fans who can sing along from the first notes
Formed in 1999, NELL emerged in the South Korean music scene with their unique modern rock style
Despite the indie music scene not being as thriving at the time, they quietly gained fame through their creative strength and consistent live performances in small Live Clubs around Hongdae
Two years after their debut, they were signed by the nationally beloved singer ‘Seo Taiji’ and subsequently rose to fame in South Korea with songs like ‘Stay’ and ‘Thank you’
NELL is renowned for their lyrical and psychedelic rock, known for creating with dreamy sound effects and complex guitar arrangements
They further enhance their songs by blending electronic elements, using synthesizers and electronic beats to add depth
Guitarist Lee Jae-kyung’s talent for creating ethereal and psychedelic guitar sounds plays a crucial role in setting the emotional tone of NELL’s music, creating the distinctive ‘NELL-style rock’
In addition to their musical expression, lead vocalist Kim Jong-wan’s unique lyrics have garnered a loyal fan base
His writing style is profound and emotional, with some songs stemming from deep, genuine emotions and others incorporating philosophical reflections, such as ‘Growing Distant’, which writes about the fading of feelings over time and distance, and ‘Four Times Around the Sun’, whose lyrics explore the cycles and changes of life centered around time

As one of the veterans of South Korean rock music, NELL is known as ‘idols’ idols’ in the South Korean music scene
Many artists, including RM, Hwang Min-hyun, and Kim Sung-kyu, have publicly expressed their admiration
Numerous musicians such as Taeyeon, NewJeans, and BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ have covered their hit ‘Time Walking on Memories’, and songs produced by lead vocalist Kim Jong-wan for artists like G-DRAGON and EPIK HIGH can be found on their albums, demonstrating NELL’s status and significant influence in the South Korean music industry
NELL, who has performed in front of tens of thousands of fans in South Korea on multiple occasions, rarely holds exclusive concerts overseas
This time, the band is making a special trip to Japan and Taiwan, where many fans have been waiting
It marks their return to Taiwan for a solo concert after a seven-year hiatus since 2017
NELL promises to continue their high-standard performances and to revive both classic hits and their latest works
The doors open on 11/09, with the performance time and duration subject to the actual event
