Duration: 1 Day Time: July Average Cost: 300 Yuan Who: Parent-child Activity: Self-driving, Weekend Trip Author Visited These Places: Shanghai Posted on 2020-07-24 22:21 Summer is the season for children to let loose. Since I became a mother, I’ve joined the ranks of those who take their children out to play. Whenever I have time, I always want to take my child out for a walk. However, this year’s weather in Shanghai has been a challenge for us mothers, with either heavy wind and rain or scorching heat. Thus, I took out my secret guide for a child-friendly outing. I was looking for an indoor place, preferably with water activities, and the more play options, the better. That’s it, Baoyan Amusement Park! Baoyan Amusement Park has a well-deserved reputation among parents, and I’ve been eager to visit for a long time. Baoyan Amusement Park has many branches in Shanghai, but their flagship store is what attracted me the most because it features a constant temperature water park. My child loves playing in water, and in the hot summer, there’s nothing more comfortable than soaking in water. Taking advantage of Baoyan Amusement Park’s summer promotion, we decided to go on a whim! I bought tickets in advance through their mini-program, which were cheaper than buying on-site. Baoyan Amusement Park opens at 9:30 AM, and we arrived right on time. It turned out to be very necessary to arrive early because there were so many things to play with, spread across five floors, and we still felt like we hadn’t had enough after a whole day.
Regarding transportation: Baoyan Amusement Park’s flagship store is located at 3825 Du Shi Road, Minhang District. Self-driving is, of course, the most convenient option, and the park has a配套 parking lot. The first four hours are free, and any time beyond that is charged at 6 Yuan per hour. If you don’t drive, it’s recommended to take the subway to Xinzhuang Station and then take a taxi, which will get you there in about 10 minutes.
Preparation before departure: Socks! Long pants! Long sleeves!!! I specifically remind you to dress your children in long sleeves and long pants. It’s not because the park is cold, but to prevent them from getting scratched while playing on the slides. Children in short sleeves and shorts are not allowed to play on the slides. Both adults and children need to wear socks when entering the play area; in summer, when wearing sandals, this can easily be overlooked. Swimming suits! Bath towels! If you plan to take your child to the water park, make sure to prepare swimming suits and bath towels. For young children, don’t forget to bring waterproof diapers. Swimming rings and goggles can be brought according to your needs. If you, like me, are visiting for the first time and are a bit confused about how big Baoyan is, how many floors it has, and how to play there, let me, someone who is preparing to visit again, share my experience with you.
About the park layout: Baoyan Amusement Park’s flagship store is very large, with a total of five floors, including both indoor and outdoor areas.
First Floor: The Pet Paradise (11:00 — 18:00), Slide Paradise, and 5D, 7D, 9D cinemas. Second Floor: Mischief Castle, Building Block Area, Manicure Room, Arcade Area (10:30 — 18:00), Nursing Room, Birthday Workshop, Baking Classroom, and Restaurant. Third and Fourth Floors: Water Park. Fifth Floor: Outdoor Adventure Area, featuring a children’s horse riding field, grass sliding, pirate ship, carousel, and more. When you see the large dinosaurs, you’ve arrived at the flagship store of Baoyan Amusement Park. After a series of procedures such as entering, wearing a mask, showing your health code, taking a temperature check, and washing hands, my child finally broke free and plunged into their own world of joy. When we arrived, the Pet Paradise on the left hand side was not yet open. Different attractions have slightly different opening times. The Pet Paradise opens from 11:00 to 18:00, so we first went to the Slide Paradise on the first floor. There is a place to store strollers at the entrance, and every time we go out with the child, we carry a lot of bags. It is strongly recommended to store these items first. The storage is located next to the Slide Paradise. It costs 5 yuan per box, and you can use it for a whole day, and you can open it unlimited times during the middle. Well, after letting go of the burden, play with the child to your heart’s content. The first project is the Slide Paradise! Before entering, you need to store your shoes, which is free and can be operated by scanning a code. As the name suggests, there are many types of slides, suitable for young children and older children with different slopes, suitable for different age groups. This place is very friendly to young children. They have designed a slide path that is exclusively for parents and children to slide together, allowing timid or young children to climb up the two-story high slide and experience the joy of sliding together. Of course, if you are also a big child, you can also challenge the popular projects here, such as the 45-degree slide and the 90-degree slide. Yes, the thrill is what we are playing for. Remember to dress your child in long sleeves, long pants, and socks. There are staff at the slide who are very responsible. For safety reasons, those who do not comply with the dress code are not allowed to play on the slide. Skin friction with the slide can easily cause injuries. Next to the Slide Paradise are the 5D, 7D, and 9D cinemas, which have different age restrictions. Children over 5 years old are required to watch the 9D, and 3-year-old babies can watch the 5D. The sessions in the morning and afternoon are different. There will be a notice board at the cinema entrance, where you can first understand the playback time and come here to watch on time. After coming out of the Slide Paradise and watching a VR movie, it’s almost 11 o’clock, and the Pet Paradise is already open. The second project is the Pet Paradise. The ticket for the Pet Paradise needs to be purchased additionally, but who can refuse the cuteness of the little animals! Here, you can get in close contact with the little animals. At the entrance, you can see two cute little animals at a glance! Alpacas. They are the popular little animals here. Taking photos and feeding are indispensable for them. Food cannot be brought into the Pet Paradise. Do not bring your own food to feed them. If you want to experience feeding, you can buy food at the entrance of the Pet Paradise. Here, there are fish food and carrots, 10 yuan per share. Remember to put gloves on the baby, whether it is petting the little animals or feeding them. It enhances the safety for both the baby and the little animals themselves.
Buy a portion of carrots for the baby and start a feeding journey. Alpacas are really super cute. Standing taller than my son, they have wide eyes and an innocent look. If I didn’t stop him a bit, my son would probably be tricked by this adorable look and give away a whole box of carrots… They always stretch out their necks and take one bite after another, like big eaters who are never full. When the little bunnies opposite see the carrots, they also hop around and gather, lying on the fence and pushing each other with their round little butts. Groundhogs are also masters of being cute. They were once the expression emperors popular all over the internet. Here, they are very obedient. Sometimes they raise their heads to see if there is any food. If there is food to tempt them, they will immediately forget their image and jump and hop. Come on, guess what kind of animal this is? The small animals in the cute pet paradise are very novel for babies. Those animals that once existed in books all appear vividly by their side. Little hedgehogs, little squirrels, lizards, and various small animals in the jungle world and underwater world. This is another place where you can play for a long time… After feeding the small animals, it’s time to feed ourselves. We chose to have a meal in the restaurant on the second floor. There are pizzas, rice, hamburgers, and you can also choose a set meal conveniently. The per capita cost is about 40-50. Next to the ordering area, there is a self-service beverage sales area, which is very convenient. Of course, it would be even more perfect if more children’s meals could be launched. Many children have the habit of taking a nap. Of course, in such a fun amusement park, most children don’t want to sleep, but there are also those who can’t hold on. For example, my son fell asleep while eating… Fortunately, there is a mother and baby room in Baoyan, which is also on the second floor. Different from ordinary mother and baby rooms, there are six warm small beds here that can be used for babies to take a nap, but they are really in high demand! When I carried him in, there was only the last bed left. To create a sleeping atmosphere, parents turned off the lights, so I also dozed off sitting next to him… What about having a manicure?… The manicure room specially prepared for mothers in Baoyan flagship store is really a great benefit for mothers. It’s free. Since having a baby, there has been very little time for me to spend on myself. Here, I can. The third project: Building block area and naughty castle. After the baby wakes up, continue to play! There are two places on the second floor that are very suitable for babies to play. One is the building block area and the other is the naughty castle. Have you seen building blocks bigger than you? Here, children become porters and engineers, building city walls and building their own small castles. In the naughty castle, the combination of ocean balls and slides makes the baby reluctant to leave. Climbing up and down again and again. The slide is the main project of Baoyan. So whether it’s in the slide paradise, water paradise or naughty castle, there are slides. What makes me feel relieved is that their slide slope design is very reasonable. Every time when it is close to the ground, there will be a buffer… Moreover, the staff is always paying attention. After all, they are a group of naughty children. Once they play excitedly, all kinds of illegal actions will come out. At this time, timely dissuasion is very necessary.
The arcade on the second floor is suitable for older children. This area incurs an additional charge, but there is no need for pre-charging; you can simply scan the code to play each attraction. The bumper cars here are free of charge. The park’s loudspeakers will announce in advance that these are free and fun activities, naturally attracting a crowd. Therefore, those who wish to participate should line up early. On the second floor, there is also a birthday workshop and a baking classroom. My child is still a bit too young to try parent-child baking, his little mind probably filled with thoughts of swimming, swimming, swimming! Yes, that’s what we came for! The fourth attraction, the constant temperature water park, is located on the third floor. Upon exiting the elevator, you will find a swimming suit sales area. The area is divided into three changing rooms: male, female, and family. The family room is naturally the busiest, with private rooms for parents and children to bathe and change together. However, the rooms are limited and require waiting. There are lockers in the changing rooms, where you can store your belongings by scanning the code for a fee of 10 yuan per locker. It’s quite advanced now, with facial recognition payment available, and you can open the locker repeatedly during your visit. Many parents and children come to play in the water park. Although Shanghai has many large water parks, Baoyan’s is truly unique for children. The depth and temperature of the water are ideal for bringing children to play. It is a year-round constant temperature swimming pool, so even in winter, you can enjoy water activities to the fullest. Swimming, various slides, cute animals that spray water, and comfortable massage pools are all available. Although there are no large-scale water projects here, it features the famous Rainbow Slide, a multicolored slide offering a dual experience of height and speed. Due to the height of the slide, there are height restrictions for children: the Rainbow Slide is limited to children over 1.2 meters tall, and the spiral slide is limited to children over 1 meter tall. If you do not meet these requirements, do not worry; there are various slides suitable for younger children, designed with great care. It is strongly recommended to play the water park attractions first after entering the park, as many people’s play routes are from the first floor to the fifth floor, making the afternoon the peak time for water play. Choosing to play from the top down allows you to avoid peak crowds. The fifth attraction, the outdoor adventure area, is located on the fifth floor. It was raining when we went, so many attractions were not open. The children’s horse riding field, grass sliding, pirate ship, and carousel were all missed. We could only take Kai Kai inside to see the big dinosaurs and return to the Jurassic World, going through caves for an adventure. Well, the missed attractions will be saved for the next visit. The reason for liking Baoyan is that both children and adults can find joy here, allowing parents to participate in their children’s play world and accompany their children in growing up together.
