The author visited these places: Oriental Pearl Tower, The Bund, Shanghai. Posted on August 24, 2020, 19:03. Where will everyone take their children to play when traveling to Shanghai during summer vacation? Oriental Pearl Tower, The Bund, World Financial Center? It’s too hot, and children may not necessarily like it. In summer, what children like most is water. Animals are also the favorites of innocent children. I recommend going to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park takes ocean culture as its theme and is divided into five major theme areas and one ocean park resort hotel. It consists of six large animal exhibition halls, sixteen marine star shows, two high-tech cinemas and more than ten amusement facilities. The five major theme areas are Mermaid Bay, Polar Town, Underwater Wonderland, Ocean Tribe and Ice and Snow Kingdom. The six animal exhibition halls are Volcano Shark Hall, Antarctic Penguin Hall, Sea Beast Exploration Hall, Iceberg Arctic Hall, Underwater World Hall and Coral Jellyfish Hall. Transportation: I took Line 11 from home and transferred to Line 16 at Luoshan Road Station. Got off at Lingang New City Station. At the left bus stop, took Bus No. 1135. Boarded at Lingang Avenue and Hucheng Ring Road Station. After taking three stops, got off at Yinfei Road D Port Bus Hub (Ocean Park). Entering the park, first show the health code, take body temperature measurement, and then go through security check. Everyone can add the official account of Haichang Ocean Park first to check the performance schedule and arrange the travel route reasonably. In hot weather, water must be brought. However, there are also drinks, water and handmade marine animal ice creams available for purchase in the park. I did my homework in advance and arranged such a route for everyone’s reference. Travel route: Sea Beast Exploration Hall – Iceberg Arctic Hall – Love of Beluga Whales (10:30) – Walrus Theater (11:30) – Penguin Restaurant for lunch. Orca Theater (13:00) – Time and Space Cable Car – Dolphin Theater (14:00) – Volcano Shark Hall – Mermaid Fairy Tale (15:00) – Dolphin Roller Coaster – Coral Jellyfish Hall – Wet and Refreshing Party (16:20) – Underwater World Hall – Dance of Fish. From the entrance of the park, many children are taking pictures. This place has become one of the must-visit places for tourists coming to Shanghai and locals. I heard a conversation between a mother and daughter on Line 16. The mother said to the child, ‘Today’s temperature is 37 degrees. I accompany you to play. If it’s 38 degrees tomorrow, we won’t go out.’ Mothers are really great. There are many mothers and children getting off at Lingang New City Station. They are all going to Haichang to play. I am also looking forward to the changes of Haichang Ocean Park in two years.
After entering, I really regret not bringing my child to play. Because now Haichang Ocean Park has added many amusement projects and there has been a great change. Sea Beast Exploration Hall As the first stop, we arrive at the Sea Beast Exploration Hall. The lovely sea lions greet us. Here, we can also see seals, fur seals, manatees, and otters. This time I regret not bringing my child. Because Haichang Ocean Park is really worth coming. The wonderful things are yet to come. The weather is a bit hot. But because there are so many shows in the venues now, the time being exposed to the sun is only on the way to various venues. It is much cooler inside the halls. Arctic Iceberg Hall Here lives a group of friends from the Arctic, including Arctic wolves, polar bears, beluga whales, and Arctic foxes. Not to mention children, even I have come to know many marine animals and animals from other places after coming here. Here, we can intuitively understand knowledge that is not in books and expand our knowledge. It is really a good place. No wonder there are still so many tourists although the weather is hot. There is a white animal in this room. Everyone thought it was a dog. Haha, it’s called an Arctic fox. From time to time, it will step on the turntable and play. No wonder everyone thinks it is a dog. I also saw the cute internet-famous sea lion Dingding. It likes to put its head on the glass tank. When you move, it moves too. It’s extremely interesting. Beluga Whale Love After visiting two venues, we can just catch the ‘Beluga Whale Love’ show at half past ten. Beluga whales are the white, rich, and beautiful ones in the whale family and marine singers. A beautiful performance is unforgettable. Beluga whales and the keeper stage a wonderful and romantic show. I call the keeper the Beluga Prince. He is very handsome. Beluga whales even pose in a heart shape. Here is also a confession place for lovers. Walrus Theater After watching the romantic Beluga Whale Love, let’s watch the humorous and super cute popular interactive show ‘Walrus’s Journey to the West’. The star walrus likes to show off its charming figure. When seeing a young lady, it will shyly cover its eyes. Sea lions can also salute and do handstands. They are super cute. Walruses like beautiful young ladies and even play sit-up PK with young ladies. The cute appearance makes people unable to help laughing. Walruses are the easiest to remember because they have long teeth. It’s almost lunchtime. We come to the Penguin Restaurant. The first floor is already full. We go to the second floor for a meal. Entering the restaurant is like coming to an underwater world. A wonderful feeling. Those cute penguins, I don’t want to eat them. I just want to take them home. This is a children’s set meal. There are also Hainanese chicken rice and eel rice. The taste is also very good. There is also the worthy-to-experience Whale Shark Restaurant. Connected to the Volcanic Shark Hall, here you can have a romantic candlelight dinner with more than 10,000 rare fish.
Shatt Restaurant, located in the Underwater Wonderland area, is highly popular and specializes in Southeast Asian cuisine, currently hosting a food festival. After refueling your energy, embark on our afternoon itinerary. At the Orca Theater, delve into the knowledge about our human friends, the orcas, through their science education. Take the Time-Space Cable Car to explore the Dolphin Theater! There’s no need to pay for the cable car, as it’s included in the admission fee. The Dolphin Theater presents the grand interactive show ‘Dolphin Serenade’ on a dreamy stage, where dolphins leap out of the water, captivating the audience with their spectacular performance. If you wish to experience this breathtaking moment, you must come and see it for yourself! Dolphins, known for their high intelligence, work in perfect harmony with their trainers, earning rounds of applause from the crowd. The enchanting stage effects are among my favorite theater performances. If you’re fortunate enough, you might even receive a kiss from a baby dolphin, provided you are at least sixteen years old. At the Ocean Park, there’s a volcano that houses the Volcano Shark Pavilion. The highlight of the Volcano Shark Pavilion is the seven-degree inclined immersive tank, the best place to enjoy the sea view, bar none! The Mermaid Fairy Tale takes place here as well, with five mermaids appearing in a large tank, captivating the audience with their mesmerizing beauty. Their underwater dance is particularly stunning and breathtaking. The performers are excellent swimmers, as free diving requires excellent swimming skills. Everyone is captivated by the graceful scene, capturing the moment with their phones or cameras. Along the way, there are various shark tanks, making for great photo spots. The colorful underwater world is truly fascinating. On your way to the exit, you’ll pass by the gift shop, where adorable plush toys and merchandise are hard to resist. The Coral Jellyfish Pavilion is a standalone coral jellyfish-themed exhibition hall. The jellyfish music hall, created through mirrored refraction, constantly changes with colorful lighting effects, giving a dreamlike feeling. Jellyfish are a personal favorite of mine, as they dance gracefully with their opening and closing movements, which I find particularly beautiful. I took many photos and could never tire of watching them. There are also many types of corals on display, including feather mushroom corals and mushroom sunflower corals. The Underwater World Pavilion, beloved by both adults and children, features an especially long underwater tunnel, ideal for portrait photography, despite the crowds during the summer vacation. However, it’s not a problem. Bring a prime lens for background blur, and you can still produce stunning photos. Everyone loves to linger in the underwater city garden, a very popular spot. Staying in the indoor venue, away from the heat, can also be very enjoyable. The ‘Dance of the Fishes’ is a highly skilled free diving underwater performance, featuring fish surrounding the underwater fairy as she makes her entrance.
Flower fairies and elves work in perfect harmony to present the dreamlike underwater world. Besides viewing marine life, the Ocean Park offers thrilling and entertaining rides. Don’t miss the chance to board the Dolphin Coaster and the Volcano Rafting for an adrenaline rush. Although I haven’t tried them myself, friends who have experienced them say they are exciting without being dangerous, and a lot of fun. By the time the day’s play ends, it’s already dusk, and the hot and refreshing Wet and Wild Party begins! Everyone gathers together and starts a party with the performers. Water guns and foam battles bring joy to the children. Although I played in many places that day, I didn’t cover the entire park. A good suggestion is to stay overnight at the Haichang Ocean Park Resort Hotel and play all the attractions such as the Speedy Penguins, Happy Little Flying Fish, Flying Giant Fish, Pelican Adventure, and Ocean Merry-Go-Round on the second day. Haichang Ocean Park also offers different themes for different festivals and has a daily visitor limit, so remember to book your tickets early. I’m also looking forward to my next trip to Haichang.
