Hyatt hotels are surely familiar to friends in the hotel industry. From luxury brand Park Hyatt to Andaz, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt and other 20 brands. But today I want to talk about UrCove by Hyatt, a brand under Hyatt Hotels Group, a completely Chinese-Western hybrid brand, and five of them opened consecutively in 2020. UrCove by Hyatt is a new brand jointly created by Hyatt Hotels Group and BTG Homeinns Hotel Group. The brand is rooted in China and positioned in the mid-to-high-end business travel market. The hotel aims to serve business travelers in China and provide them with a haven where they can relax and regain vitality during their journey. Regarding the English name UrCove, it means ‘your cove’, implying comfort and ease like home, away from the complexity of the city. It combines comfort and convenience and provides considerate service, spacious rooms, delicious meals and a relaxed and refined atmosphere for modern travelers on the road. As of the end of 2020, five UrCove hotels have opened in China, namely UrCove Shanghai Jing’an, UrCove Shanghai Lujiazui Expo Center, UrCove Shanghai Wujiaochang, UrCove Chengdu Center, and UrCove Nanjing South Station. And I also checked in three UrCove hotels in Shanghai and share with you today. The following photos were taken during the Christmas season, so there are many Christmas elements. 01 UrCove Shanghai Lujiazui Expo Center. This is the first UrCove hotel I checked in. The hotel is located in the bustling Expo Riverside business district, close to the inner ring viaduct and Nanpu Bridge. Entering the hotel lobby and passing through two high automatic doors gives an illusion of entering Park Hyatt. After entering the lobby, it suddenly becomes open and a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere arises spontaneously. The front desk adopts an island design, increasing the intimacy between guests and staff and creating a new form of business hotel. The large floor-to-ceiling windows can let in natural light. Guests can sit by the window, order a cup of coffee or a pot of tea and slowly enjoy a comfortable leisure time. The creative space also has a small children’s play area. Presumably, if families with children come in the future, there will also be fun places for children.
The hotel boasts 142 elegantly designed and uniquely decorated rooms. During this stay, I checked into the hotel’s audio-visual room. Depending on the room layout, the guest rooms feature a strip-style decoration, with a sliding door that separates the quiet and dynamic areas, with a shower room and hallway in between. Guests can watch their favorite movies and TV shows through the projector provided in the room. The room is also equipped with a tea bar and coffee machine, offering several different flavors of tea. The mini-bar contains several types of beverages, all of which are complimentary. During my stay, I also visited the hotel’s distinctive loft rooms (Yifee Duplex Rooms); downstairs is the living room area, suitable for working and meeting guests, and the room also features a free mini-bar and capsule coffee machine. Upstairs along the corridor is the living area, equipped with a comfortable large bed and shower room. The bathroom uses a sensor-based smart toilet, and the room is equipped with a Dyson hairdryer. The shower products are bottled, which is both environmentally friendly and economical. Yifee Hotel continues the catering standards of the Hyatt Hotel Group, still deeply favored by frequent travelers in terms of production and quality. The hotel’s first-floor buffet restaurant offers breakfast; lunch and dinner are à la carte. In addition to enjoying a hearty buffet breakfast, I also tasted the hotel’s beef noodles and various desserts and light meals, which were all very delicious. The buffet restaurant also has a large round table, mainly for guests who make dining reservations. The first floor is equipped with a gym and a self-service laundry room, which greatly facilitates the laundry and fitness needs of frequent travelers. The hotel is about 0.8 kilometers from Tangqiao Station on Metro Line 4, making it convenient to reach all parts of the city. The hotel is surrounded by many shopping centers, high-end office buildings, well-known schools, and top-tier hospitals. It takes about 10 minutes by car to reach the Lujiazui Financial Center, Ocean World, and Oriental Pearl Tower. You can also walk from the hotel to the Binjiang Avenue and enjoy the prosperity on both sides. The hotel’s unique geographical location makes travel more convenient. Shanghai Yifee Hotel, located at 2266 South Pudong Road, Pudong New District, Shanghai, is situated in the bustling Jing’an Temple business district. It takes only a few minutes to walk from Jing’an Temple Subway Station to the hotel. If you walk to the hotel, you can see the hotel’s unique architectural appearance from a distance. The lobby of Yifee Hotel is uniformly called the ‘Creative Space’. The front desk for check-in and check-out is designed as an island counter, where guests can handle check-in and check-out procedures, reducing the sense of distance and increasing intimacy. The staff here are not just front desk, but multifunctional, providing more convenient services to guests. The Creative Space has a rest area, coffee bar, tea bar, beer bar, and cocktail and Yifee’s red wine.
The innovative space also hosts periodic events such as coffee champion latte art and cocktail flair performances, bringing the lifestyle of the hotel to every guest. The hotel’s first floor features a meeting space, conveniently located for business travelers to conduct small meetings or business negotiations. Ascending the colorful spiral staircase to the second floor leads to the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. The restaurant now offers a buffet breakfast and dinner, and the newly opened buffet dinner has quickly gained popularity among guests and neighbors, often reaching full capacity. The breakfast is quite abundant, offering traditional Chinese and Western cuisine, as well as some special local breakfast items from Shanghai. During the evening buffet dinner, the buffet table is adorned with various seafood dishes and fruit desserts. To cater to the cold winter season, the hotel has introduced a hot pot buffet served per person. There is a wide variety of beef, mutton, meatballs, and vegetables. Most importantly, the prices are quite affordable. During my stay, I observed many families dining here, creating a lively atmosphere. The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center where guests can exercise. Additionally, there is a self-service laundry room, which is ideal for frequent business travelers. Clothes can be washed and dried without disrupting their work and travel schedules. The hotel boasts 265 comfortable rooms, and I stayed in a king-sized bed room this time. The room design is ingenious, continuing the Hyatt Group’s style of using wood, blank space, and minimalism to create a high-quality and cozy atmosphere. The room amenities are impressive, equipped with a 55-inch high-definition flat-screen TV and a separate sofa area; the bedding features the same American century-old brand, Sealy mattresses, used by Hyatt hotels. All rooms are equipped with smart toilets; suites also feature Dyson hair dryers. The upcoming Shanghai Metro Line 14 Wuding Road Station, right in front of the hotel, greatly facilitates the travel of business travelers. The hotel is surrounded by shopping centers, high-end office buildings, and well-known schools. It is also a short walk from the hotel to the old houses and garden streets, where one can experience the comfortable time under the plane trees in Shanghai. The hotel is located at 1185 Wuding West Road, Wujiaochang, Jing’an District, Shanghai. This is my third experience at the hotel, and it still brings surprises. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the Wujiaochang commercial district, making it very convenient for travel. The Wujiaochang Hyatt Hotel is also very close by. Entering the lobby, it is still a spacious innovative space, which, in addition to having an island bar, craft beer, and coffee and tea, is also equipped with projection equipment. Guests can enjoy the carefully prepared coffee and light meals, selected craft beer, and selected French red wine and other delicious dishes by the hotel. The hotel has also equipped the innovative space with new intelligent service facilities, supporting self-service check-in and check-out.
The hotel boasts 199 comfortable and cozy rooms of various types. I stayed in an executive room for this trip. The room does not have a telephone, but it is equipped with an intelligent voice customer service system. You just need to call out ‘UrCove UrCove’ to activate the room’s voice service, which not only controls the lights and curtains but also directly connects you to the hotel’s front desk. The room is installed with an independent fresh air system, newly added N95 level filter nets, and real-time PM2.5 monitoring functions, providing guests with a safe and comfortable living environment. Executive rooms still come with Dyson hair dryers, offering business travelers a relaxed and easy stay. The fifth floor of the hotel houses an all-day dining restaurant where you can enjoy a hearty and healthy buffet breakfast, as well as à la carte services for lunch and dinner. In addition, the hotel is equipped with a 24-hour gym, self-service laundry room, meeting rooms, and other facilities. Hotel address: No. 255 Guoding East Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai.
