Xiangshan Jiao Temple

Xiangshan Jiao Temple is located at the junction of Zhenhai and Cixi in Ningbo. It backs on Dapeng Mountain and faces Jiulong Lake. Surrounded by lush bamboos, the air is fresh. Dapeng Mountain is reflected in the lake, presenting beautiful scenery.
Xiangshan Jiao Temple was first built in the 14th year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty. It has a history of 1,250 years. Emperor Daizong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Yu, issued an edict granting the temple names ‘Dazhong Xiangshan Temple’ and ‘Xiangshan Zhidu Temple’. In 2002, it was approved for reconstruction. The planned area of the temple is more than 400 mu. The Yuantong Treasure Hall, the Three Saints Hall, the Sutra Depository and the east and west wing rooms have been completed. The entire building is in imitation of the Tang Dynasty style. It is scattered in an orderly manner along the mountain and extremely exquisite.

The Guanyin (Vairocana Guanyin) enshrined in the Yuantong Treasure Hall is similar to that in Puji Temple on Mount Putuo. Serviced by boys and the daughter of the Dragon King on both sides, it is very grand. On the back is the jade-made Thousand-Hand Guanyin. On both walls are hundreds of various Guanyins. It is resplendent and is the center and essence of the entire temple.

The Three Saints Hall is built on a high platform. The Three Saints enshrined inside are very solemn. Going up along the mountain steps is the Sutra Depository.

There are long corridors on both sides of Xiangshan Jiao Temple connected to each hall. Even if it rains and you don’t bring an umbrella, you won’t get wet. The design is very meticulous.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 05:00 to 17:00. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
