Xuhui Binjiang Avenue

Xuhui Binjiang Avenue is located east to the Huangpu River, west to Fengxi Road, south from the China Aviation Oil Depot, and north to Rui Ning Road, with a total length of 3.6 kilometers. The Dapu Road Tunnel and Longyao Road Tunnel connect the Pudong World Expo Park with Xuhui Binjiang Avenue. The first phase of the project covers an area equivalent to four Xuhui Parks, with a public green space area of 140,000 square meters. The traffic system of the open space consists of a landscape avenue, leisure bicycle lanes, water-friendly walkways, and a lane reserved for future development. This area was originally the site of the Longhua Airport. Now, it has been transformed into broad avenues, and the riverside docks have been redeveloped into water-friendly landscapes. The avenue is shaded by lush greenery, illuminated by dimly lit artistic street lamps, and features wooden walkways extending into the river. There are also intentionally preserved iron bollards for mooring ships, old rubber rings, and cranes. Along the way, one can see historical remnants such as the cement plant’s pre-homogenizing silo, coal conveyor belt, Beipiao Dock crane, and Nanpu Station cargo warehouse. A water tower has been transformed into a large artistic white magnolia, radiating colorful light in the dark. The newly built Longhua Port Bridge is adorned with floodlights, presenting a dazzling array of colors. Strolling along the Binjiang Avenue, one can listen to the surging river, watch the shimmering waves, feel the gentle river breeze, admire the full moon, observe the river lapping at the shore, and gaze at the beautiful views of the World Expo Park.
