Yaohang Street Catholic Church

Yaohang Street Catholic Church is located on Yaohang Street in Ningbo City, a tall building in ancient Roman style, with a body of iron red decorated with white lines.

The church was originally built in the ninth year of the Tongzhi Emperor’s reign (1870), was destroyed in the Gengzi year (1900), and was rebuilt in the thirty-first year of the Guangxu Emperor’s reign (1905), covering an area of about 13.3 mu, with an existing area of 4300 square meters. The main building is the worship hall, with two western-style pointed bell towers on the side.

Yaohang Street Catholic Church is a large-scale Catholic activity venue in Ningbo City. The church is 51 meters long from north to south and 22 meters wide from east to west. The ridge of the main hall is 31 meters high, and the bell tower is 66 meters high, topped with a stainless steel cross that is 6 meters high and 4 meters wide. The church floor plan is in the shape of a cross and is combined with the second floor of the priest’s building, making the church capable of accommodating 2000 people (with 1000 seats).

The main entrance of the church is made of granite, the church hall is decorated with granite on the ground, all doors and windows of the church use stained glass, the round windows at the top of the main hall use various symbols of the Holy Eucharist, and the church doors and windows use patterns of Bible stories. The top of the altar has an 80 square meter semicircular arch, painted with the image of the Holy Trinity crowning the Virgin Mary, and is supported by five semicircular small arches, symbolizing the unity and unity of the Church.
