Located on Dongzha Guanqian Street, the Yu Liuliang Coin Museum may appear unremarkable at first glance, but it houses an impressive collection of coins and commemorative medals from around the world, amassed by Mr. Yu Liuliang over 40 years.
Even a cursory walk through the museum offers a glimpse into the vast world of numismatics. The exhibited coins include metal currency, paper money, and spendable coins, spanning from the Xia and Shang dynasties to the modern era, covering a continuous thirty centuries. Each coin’s origin, nationality, and cultural history are accompanied by descriptive texts for a deeper understanding of their ‘essence,’ making it a unique entry point into world history.
If you are interested in coin collecting, you can purchase sets of commemorative coins near the exit of the exhibition hall for your personal collection or as a memento. The museum is open year-round from 09:00 to 17:00.
