The Yunhu Tourist Resort is located in the southwest of Yixing City. It is composed of five parts: reservoir scenic area, Buddhist culture area, vacation service area, rural scenery area, and rural customs area.
The so-called Yunhu is actually the former Hengshan Reservoir, which is located at the junction of Changzhou and Yixing. Hengshan Reservoir is actually very close to Tianmu Lake. Before being renamed Yunhu, it has always been the source of drinking water for Yixing residents.
The ecological environment of Yunhu Tourist Resort is very good. It has a beautiful lake view that is in no way inferior to Tianmu Lake. There are large areas of tea fields and wetland parks. Coming here for spring outing is truly worthy of the name.
Yunhu is rich in water resources and the scenery is as beautiful as a painting. The small islands in the lake are surrounded by water on all sides. Egrets are flying and green trees surround the island. It is extremely beautiful and is a rare paradise in the south of the Yangtze River.
At present, the Dabei Chan Temple in the Buddhist culture area has taken shape. Tens of thousands of mu of bamboo sea tea gardens and many precious trees constitute the main body of the rural scenic area.
The Dabei Temple by Yunhu is the dojo of the Linji Sect of Zen. During the Xianchun period of the Southern Song Dynasty, it was founded by Zen Master Zhining. It has a history of about 700 years.
The 48th generation disciple of the Linji Sect, Master Hsing Yun, crossed the sea to Taiwan, founded Fo Guang Shan. Later, he returned to Yixing, rejuvenated the ancestral court, and renovated the Dabei Temple. It has now become a major destination for cross-strait and international Buddhist exchanges and cultural tourism.
